Darryl Steff

CEO and Board Member

Darryl is responsible for providing leadership, the management of the Down Syndrome Queensland team, and oversight of all ongoing activities of the association. Advocating at the highest levels on issues affecting Down Syndrome Queensland members, Darryl works to develop improved disability policy and practice across all areas and levels of government. Darryl is often out and about in the community raising awareness of Down syndrome, building partnerships and developing business networks.

Darryl joined the Board as Chairman in 2015 and was appointed as CEO in August 2017 at which time he stood down as Chairman. Darryl has a finance background gained in over 15 years’ experience in executive and management roles in large corporates including BHP Billiton and WorleyParsons and more recently as owner/operator of his own business. Darryl has three children including a daughter Bella with Down syndrome. This background gives Darryl a solid knowledge of the opportunities and issues facing Down Syndrome Queensland and the Down syndrome community more broadly. 

Georgie Greaves

Administration Officer

Georgie is responsible for all of the administration of Down Syndrome Queensland. This includes memberships, processing of online sales, packaging of resources, distribution of flyers, managing RSVP’s for events and conferences, invoices, banking and mail.

Kellie Auranaune

Member Support Officer

Kellie is responsible for ensuring that Down Syndrome Queensland members feel connected and supported, regardless of where they live in Queensland. Kellie can also source information and services, answer questions, and provide ideas and strategies. Kellie is responsible for overseeing our library loans and resources.

Yuka Yamaoka

Youth & Adult Support

Yuka is available to provide information about a range of different opportunities that are available to young people transitioning out of school or adults with Down syndrome in their local community. Yuka can connect families with resources and services, and can also assist with sourcing supports that allow the person to pursue meaningful employment and recreational pathways throughout their life.

Debbie Martin

Education Consultant & CEP Teacher

Debbie can assist educators and families with all educational issues, and can conduct professional development workshops and conferences throughout the year. Debbie has a strong commitment to research and the development of programs and resources to assist students with Down syndrome. Debbie is available in the office 3 days a fortnight.

Rachael Wallace

Reading Our Way Coordinator

Rachael can assist educators and families with information about the Reading Our Way program. Rachael can conduct professional development workshops and training throughout the year.

Kate Fletcher

Music Therapist

Kate runs the DSAQ Music Therapy program on the Monday mornings with the little ones and the Together Red Choir with our youth and adults on the Wednesday evenings.

Niky Scott Carrigan

Administration Assistant Niky provides administrative support to all staff members and helps keep the office running smoothly and efficiently. 

Kerrie Nixon

Finance Officer

Kerrie is responsible for all of our banking and payroll.

Angus Lloyd

CEP Aide

Angus works closely with the CEP Teacher to provide a wide range of supports to our students to participate in educational activities and achieve learning outcomes in the classroom.

David Fuller

Chairman - Down Syndrome QLD Board Member

David joined the Board in 2016 and was appointed Chairman in 2017.  David and his wife Annmaree have five children, including their youngest, Sophie with Down Syndrome.  David aspires to inclusive, healthy and fulfilling lives for the Down Syndrome Community.  David has 25 years global executive experience with public and private companies and  brings expertise in commercial, corporate governance and strategy to the Board. David is a Member of Institute of Engineers, Member of Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds an MBA from the Melbourne Business School.

Cath Watson

Secretary - Down Syndrome QLD Board Member

Cath joined the board in 2012 and became Company Secretary in 2015.  Cath and husband Chris have 3 girls, with youngest, Lily, with Down Syndrome.  Cath is a 20 year program and project's specialist with extensive background in governance. In addition to being on the board for Down Syndrome Queensland, Cath is also on the College Council and finance committee for Prince of Peace Lutheran College, where all 3 girls attend.

Paul Wilson

DSA Representative - Down Syndrome QLD Board Member

Paul has been on the board of Down Syndrome Queensland for 5 years and is also the Queensland Director of Down Syndrome Australia.  Paul is the Area Manager of WFI Insurance in Toowoomba, a role he has held for 10 years.  He is also ministerially appointed to the South West Regional Disability advisory council.  In 2015, he was awarded the Toowoomba Regional Council Citizen of the year for his advocacy work, particularly in the disability employment space.  Paul along with his wife Tina have 4 children, their daughter Jazmyn has Down syndrome and is 14 years old.

Gillian Chapman

Treasurer - Down Syndrome QLD Board Member

Gillian has been a long standing member of Down Syndrome Queensland with two adult children, Hannah is 21 has Down Syndrome.
